Philips English Walnut Oil Preparation is a specialised polishing oil made from processed English walnut oil blended with driers and sealants. Absorbed by the wood, it seals and dries to produce an exceptional finish on gun stocks and fore-ends. Apply a small amount and rub in with the palm of the hand to create friction, then leave to dry in a warm place (around 25°C) for a day. Repeated daily applications build a fine, durable finish that requires only occasional maintenance after shooting, especially in wet conditions. Any surface skin can be gently removed with steel wool without harming the wood. For refinishing older stocks, sand smooth, seal the grain, then apply five or six coats.
